Khadija Siddiqui case: CJP summons case record!

LAHORE: Taking notice of the acquittal of Shah Hussain – who was convicted for stabbing a law student Khadija Siddiqui 23 times – CJP has summoned record of the case at SC’s Lahore registry on 10th of June.

It is pertinent to mention here that yesterday (on Monday 4th of June) LHC had acquitted Shah Hussain by means of a short order. Following the proclamation of the verdict civil society took to the Social Media and stood firmly behind Khadija Siddiqui.

The victim expressing shock and disappointment over the acquittal said that it was beyond her imagination that someone would get off scot-free after stabbing her 23 times. She said she would be going to the Supreme Court against the LHC judgment.

i) High Court here today has acquitted Shah Hussain, who was convicted on charges of attempting to murder his fellow law-student Khadija Siddiqui by stabbing her 23 times via knife on 3rd of May, 2016.  Khadija who took to the twitter to react against the verdict by exclaiming: Inna Lilahi wa ina ilahi rajoon! Justice butchered. Shah Hussain acquitted,” said that she would go to the Supreme Court to appeal against the LHC judgment. 

ii) Shah Hussain who has stabbed a class-fellow law student Khadija Siddiqui has been arrested from the courtroom and sent to jail for seven years by Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Awan at Cantonment Courts here today. According to details the convict – son of Tanvir Hashmi advocate – who was wearing a helmet, attacked her 23 times near Shimla Hill on 3rdof May last year, leaving her critically injured. She had gone there to pick her younger sister from school along with the driver. Earlier a session court granted bail to the convict after two months of incarceration. Last May Khadija took a test under police protection since the convict was also present in the same center.
