PESHAWAR: Provincial Finance Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Muzaffar Said will present the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2016-17 in the provincial assembly today (Tuesday).
In an interview, Muzaffar said that KP government has made efforts to give relief to the common man in the budget and funds have been allocated for construction of schools, roads, and hospitals.
According to details, the provincial budget for the FY 2016-17 does not include any new taxes but changes have been made to rates of existing taxes.
The salaries of government employees would be increased to 10 percent while their medical allowances would increase by 25 percent.
According to other details, the allocation for the police department will see a 15 percent increase, a 12 percent increase in budgetary allocation for agriculture, 23 percent increase in social development, 12 percent rise in funds for technical education and 11 percent increase in allocation for the environment.
Earlier, Sindh and Punjab’s provincial budgets were presented in the assemblies by provincial finance ministers.
Punjab’s Finance Minister Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha announced Rs. 1.65 trillion provincial budget for the fiscal year 2016-2017 today with the major focus on existing development projects while senior minister for finance Syed Murad Ali Shah presented Rs. 869.12 billion (17.5% increased) Sindh budget for 2016-17 at Sindh Assembly.
