KP govt announces merger of Levies, Khasadar forces into police

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan Monday announced immediate merger of Levies and Khasadar forces into KP police in order to bring tribal districts under the FATA-KP merger plan.

Flanked by Adviser on tribal districts Ajmal Wazir, the chief minister said in a press conference that a notification had been issued in this regard adding that the entire process would be conducted in a transparent manner.

He said that ten-year development plan for tribal districts would be implemented according to the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and 28000 personnel of both the forces would benefit from this decision, the chief minister added.

Lauding services of the Levies and Khasadar force, he said that, both forces of the tribal districts made numerous sacrifices in war against terrorism to establish durable peace in the region and added that no one would be rendered jobless under the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He said that provincial government was fully committed to the socio-economic development of the tribal districts and it would amicably resolve reservations of the Khasadar force.

Speaking on the occasion, Adviser to Chief Minister on Tribal Districts, Jamal Wazir said personnel of the Khasadar force would be adjusted with same designation or post in police too and added they would be entitled to all perks and privileges as enjoyed by the police force of the province.

He hoped that the merger plan would help bring the erstwhile FATA at par with developed parts of the country.
