KARACHI: KPC and Houston-Kr Sister Cities Association hosted a reception-dinner here in honor of US-based Pak-American trader/Republican leader Syed Jawaid Anwar who was bestowed the coveted Civil Award Hilal-i-Imtiaz by President of Pakistan.
Syed Jawaid Anwar, while addressing the ladies and gentlemen in the audience, said though overseas Pakistanis reside abroad, their hearts beat with their countrymen. He said he always remembered Pakistan as it was in his blood. Addressing the youth Jawaid Anwar held if they were committed, no one could stop them from achieving their goals: “Don’t get disappointed during your struggle, you will get success eventually!”
Speaking on the occasion President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) GM Jamali said: “We are fortunate that Mr. Anwar earned good reputation not only for himself but for his country, province and for the city of Karachi as well”. GM Jamali noted that representation from all sections of life was present there. President of the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Ahmed Shah said that the welfare services rendered by Jawaid Anwar to his motherland were matchless and appreciable. He invited him to visit ACP.
Member of the Sindh Assembly Raja Azhar said it was the vision of President Arif Alvi and PM Imran Khan that overseas Pakistanis should be appreciated for their services to the motherland. Patron-In-Chief of the Houston Sister Cities Association Karachi Chapter and prominent trader Majeed Aziz held: “Karachi and Houston are sister cities and Jawaid Anwar supported the Association immensely in this respect.”
Shedding light on the welfare activities, President of the Houston Sister Cities Association Karachi Chapter Kashif Ghayas maintained: “Thanks to Jawaid Anwar’s support, water filter plant, accessories for fire brigade department, medical apparatus for hospitals have been supplied to the Metropolis. Aid was also provided to those affected by August, 2020 torrential rains.”
General Secretary of the Pakistan Medical Association Dr Qaiser Sajjad paid rich tribute to Jawaid Anwar and thanked him for providing medical equipment to Karachi’s hospitals and patronizing many schools here. Representative of Young Doctors Association Dr Mehboob Ali congratulated Jawaid Anwar and suggested that more overseas Pakistanis should be decorated by the Govt. of Pakistan.
Senior Director of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Masood Alam noted that Jawaid Anwar served for the development of the city. KUJ’s Rashid Aziz lauded the initiatives taken by Jawaid Anwar. Secretary General of the KUJ Aajiz Jamali also appreciated the services of Jawaid Anwar. Happy Home School’s Principal Ghazala Nizami said that it was an honor for her that the student of the school earned his name in Pakistan as well as in the USA. She presented Jawaid Anwar the copy of his admission form to the school in 1962.
