KPT handles over 510 metric tons single package

KARACHI: KPT successfully managed the handling of a heaviest single package of over 510 metric tons smoothly on 31st October discharged from M.V. “DA AN” V-033 at West Wharf here.
The operation was managed and supervised by the Operations Division of KPT and especially the team of Traffic department said a statement on Thursday.
The whole operation was well planned and effectively coordinated in accordance with international standards with the required level of supervision of domestic and international experts.
It is the matter of great satisfaction that the Pakistani Ports provided the required level of facility and comfort as per the requirements of the country.
The handling of the very heavy package remains smooth despite the inherited requirements of safety of package, vessel and the port infrastructure.
The KPT from very beginning ensures safe and sound handling of cargo as per the expectation of international shipping community and constantly improve its infrastructure with the designed depth of 18 meters.
Last year the port also broke its own record of handling maximum tonnage in a one year. The management of specialized mechanism as per standards under fool-proof arrangements in consultation with experts in the field is appreciable and the port is equipped and ready to deliver by maintaining its leading role from the very beginning.
