ISLAMABAD: Scores of Pakistani pilgrims have been stranded at the Pak-Iran border for five days due to lack of security to escort them back into Pakistan.
According to border forces, the stranded people belong to Southern Punjab.
“People going to Iran and Iraq on Ziaraat are escorted by security forces as the area has often attacks on buses of travelling pilgrims by sectarian outfits,” said an official from the border security.
The stranded people are facing difficulties as there are no waiting areas and shelters on the Iranian side and women and children are being affected because of the harsh weather conditions.
