Lakshar-e-Islam leader Mangal Bagh killed in Afghanistan

KARACHI: Provincial Governor Nangahar, Ziaulhaq Amarkhil, took to the Twitter to inform that: “Mangal Bagh, the leader of Lashkar-e-Islam terrorist group, was killed along with two of his comrades in a roadside bomb blast in the Bandar Dara area of Achin district of Nangarhar this morning (28th of Jan, 2021).”

According to details Mangal Bagh was accused of being the author of deadly reign of terror in a border region of Pakistan. Surprisingly, he worked as a truck cleaner before transforming into a war lord.

Till June 2008 he had enormous influence over Bara tehsil of the erstwhile Khyber Agency. Then his armed vigilantes were routed in a security operation. After that he operated from southern Afghanistan with the support of his loyal warriors who were hiding there.

Mangal Bagh, a mysterious character (who carried upto three million dollars bounty on his head announced by the US State Department’s Reward for Peace), was reported dead a number of times.  Of late, he was gravely injured in an strike carried out by Afghan Air Force.
