Landslide On Torkham Border

TORKHAM BORDER: The rescue and relief operation to retrieve the dead bodies and containers from debris at the site of landslide on Pak Afghan Border at Torkham has been completed on Sunday (23rd of April, 2023).

According to Deputy Commissioner district Khyber Abdul Nasir Khan, all the eight dead bodies, thirteen containers and twenty trucks have been recovered from the landslide debris.

The dead bodies who are mostly Afghan drivers have been handed over to the Afghan authorities on the border.

Presently clearance of the highway is underway to restore traffic movement on the route.

On the Directives of the National Disaster Management Authority, the technical team of the Geological Survey of Pakistan will visit the incident spot tomorrow.

The Geological Survey team will devise its report about future land sliding in the area that necessary steps may be taken to avert such type of tragic incidents in future.
