LEAs to seek Interpol help against perpetrators of Karachi violence

KARACHI: Commanders of paramilitary Rangers and officials of other security agencies have decided to intensify ongoing operation against elements involved in gangland and political violence in the city by seeking Interpol help , Sources said on Wednesday.

According to sources, a high level meeting attended by all the Wing Commanders of Rangers and other security officials on Tuesday decided to seek help of the federal government to contact Interpol for the arrest and deportation of gangsters and members of militant wing of a political party.

The figures behind the gangland violence, the meeting decided, would be arrested at any cost. The main suspects, who are still at large, include Ustad Taju, Baba Ladla, Ghaffar Zikri, Wasiullah Lakhu, Asif Mitthal, Agha Shaukat, Sajid Golimar, Jameel Changa, Saleem Chocklete, Saeed Kajal and others.

The key characters of Karachi violence are believed to have fled the country since the Rangers launched a targeted operation in collaboration with police and intelligence agencies with the backing of Karachi Corps headquarters.

Authorities also decided to announce Rs5 million cash reward for information leading to arrest of each suspect.

The meeting comes three days after paramilitary troops arrested an alleged Lyari gangster and leader of banned People’s Amman Committee Uzair Jan Baloch from the outskirts of Karachi.
