Lens-man McCurry’s  Green-Eyed National Geographic cover-girl ordered to leave Pakistan: Fake NIC

PESHAWAR: As green-eyed Afghan refugee Sharbat Gulla, arrested recently, admitted her crime apropos furnishing false information in order to get Pakistani National Identity Card (NIC), a court here has ordered her deportation following completion of 15-days in prisons.

The woman became famous as ‘Green-Eyed Afghan Girl’ back in 1984 when National Geographic ran her photo on the cover.  The picture was snapped by famous lens-man Steve McCurry at Nasir Bagh Refugee Camp.  

Besides jail term she has also been fined a sum of Rs. 110,000/-
