ISLAMABAD: According to a PM House announcement Lt. General Nadeem Raza has been appointed as the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) with effect from 27th day of November.
General Zubair Mahmood Hayat who is presently serving as the CJCSC will retire on 28th day of November 2019.
The other contenders for the office of CJCSC were Strategic Plans Division (SPD) Director General Lt Gen Sarfraz Sattar and Commander V Corps, headquartered at Karachi, Lt Gen Humayun Aziz.
Though CJCSC’s job description includes serving as the government’s top adviser on matters related to national defense and security; working for promotion of cross-service cooperation, in all military processes in reality the post is presently reckoned as a ceremonial one.

HYDERABAD: According to ISPR’s latest press release, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has approved the appointment of Lieutenant General Nadeem Raza as the Colonel Commandment of the Sindh Regiment.
“Lt Gen Raza will retain his position as Commander of the Rawalpindi Corps while also ensuring the well-being of those serving in the Sindh Regiment as its senior-most general,” the statement said today.
DG Rangers Sindh & six others are now three-star Generals.
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army’s selection board has approved promotion of seven two-star generals to three-star generals.
It seems that the previous COAS has left this job for the new head of Army General Qamar Jawed Bajwa who signed the promotion letters two weeks after getting the baton.
DG Sindh Rangers Bilal Akbar – the man at the driving seat of the ongoing Karachi Operation – is also among those who henceforth will be showing one more star on their uniforms.
Lt. Gen. Akbar of the Artillery Corps is the 12th DG Rangers Sindh. He succeeded Major General Rizwan Akhtar in 2014 who was later appointed as DG ISI.
General Akbar stepped up targeted operation in the Metropolis and interior Sindh. During the year 2015-2016, a large number of terrorists were detained by the Rangers in the said operations.
