Magazine Cover-Designing Contest

KARACHI:  Alliance Française de Karachi (French Cultural Center) was the place where a large number of enthusiastic & talented young Media Studies students converged from all over the Metropolis to be part of the First All-Pakistan Inter-Universities Magazine Cover-Designing Competition that was supplemented by journalism pupil Zobia Shoaib’s first Solo Photography Exposition titled Unending Voyage.

Both the events were organized jointly by Alliance Française de Karachi & News Pakistan.TV.

A jury short-listed 50 best covers that were exhibited in the Main Art Gallery of Alliance Française.

(The then) Consul General of France Monsieur François Dall’Orso, who inaugurated the two events, appreciated Inter-Universities Magazine Cover-Designing Competition’s contestants’ efforts and creativity.

French Consul General also lauded Zobia Shoaib’s brilliance in photography.

President Alliance Française Bina Shah (writer and former editor of web magazines Computer World and Spider) while addressing the students of Media Studies present in the audience shared her experiences in the field of journalism.

Director Alliance Française Jean-François Chénin greatly appreciated the efforts of youngsters.

Over 500 Media Studies students from more than 80 institutions submitted covers designed by them from all over Pakistan.

Following meticulous assessment of technical and aesthetic aspects Magazine cover tiled Leader, designed by Ramsha Alam, was judged the best; Second Prize was awarded to the cover titled OK designed by Amna Ashraf; 3rd Prize was given to Mahnoor Nizami’s Elan.

Consul General of France handed over prizes to the winners. He also gave away Appreciation Certificates to the participants.

In recognition of the continuous support extended by the Consul General of France towards propagation of Education in Sindh a student presented a cover featuring him as the best Consul General of the Year.
