Mobile/Internet Services Suspended In Parts of Balochistan

QUETTA: Mobile/Internet Services have been suspended in parts of Balochistan by PTA in order to ensure public safety.

An stated on Friday (15th Nov, 2024) said: “The general public is hereby informed that, under the directives of authorised departments, mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended in certain areas of Balochistan…to ensure public safety given the security situation in these areas”. However, the areas affected and duration of outage is still not clear.

It is pertinent to mention here that Balochistan Govt has decided to develop a Provincial Action Plan to ensure security in the province. CM Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired a high level meeting on the Provincial Action Plan CS Shakeel Qadir Khan briefed on strategies to improve governance and restore peace. Key directives included using advanced technology to combat terrorism, crime, extortion and smuggling alongside boosting the professional capacity of forces.

The law and order situation is deteriorating with the passage of time in the restive province. Just yesterday (14th November, 2024) security forces carried out an IBO at general area of Miran here killing 8 khwarij, injuring six others. In another IBO 4 khwarij were killed including a ring leader identified as Sana alias Baru at general area of Balgatar in Kech District. The high value target Baru was specialised in recruiting suicide bombers for proscribed BLA’s Majeed Brigade. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed khwarij.
