MQM ends token hunger strike

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday ended its four-day token hunger strike against media ban on party chief Altaf Hussain.

The party lawmakers and workers have been observing the strike outside the Karachi Press Club against a court order that prevents print and electronic media from disseminating speeches and photos of Mr Hussain.

The party is now planing to expand its protest to other parts of the country, particularly major cities of Punjab.

“Tomorrow we will observe strike in Rawalpindi, Rahim Yar Khan, and on  February 24 in Lahore and Faisalabad,” said senior MQM leader Amir Khan while talking to media.

He said that the MQM would protest outside the parliament house on February 25 and the party’s Coordination Committee would finalize future course of action on February 26.
