MUMBAI: Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has decided to step down as India’s One-day International (ODI) and T20I captain, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Wednesday.

According to the Indian board, Dhoni will, however, be available for selection in the ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming series against England, which commences from January 15.

“On the behalf of every Indian cricket fan and the BCCI, I would like to thank MS Dhoni for his outstanding contribution as the captain of the Indian team across all formats,” said BCCI Chief Executive Officer Rahul Johri after the announcement.

“Under his leadership, Indian team has touched new heights and his achievements will remain etched forever in the annals of Indian cricket,” he added.
