KARACHI: A large number of reportedly housing-project-scam Muhafiz Garden affectees gathered here at Tauheed Commercial DHA on Wednesday evening to protest against the racket.
Despite the fact that TV anchor Mubashir Luqman has narrated the case of Muhafiz Garden – that was supposed to be built in Islamabad – and exposed the main characters behind it in his televised program, Federal Government has turned a blind eye to the matter so far.
According to sources despite protests, those who had usurped billions of rupees went Scot-free having patronage of influential personalities in the Government. Allegedly few principal ministers are also backing those behind this plot.
Reportedly, a fictitious project by the name of Muhafiz Garden was launched and advertised via major newspapers. Purportedly, through sales of prescribed forms (that was allegedly printed on prohibited paper meant for printing of currency notes) citizens – including overseas Pakistanis – were deprived of Rs. 2500 million.
The money has reportedly been smuggled abroad while it is further feared that the group involved in the alleged scam might attempt to flee the country.
