MUNICH: Police Chief Hubertus Andrae, while commenting on the affiliation of Ali David Sonboly, (the 18-year-old German-Irani boy who killed nine shoppers in a Mall here on Friday before turning his gun – Glock Semi-Automatic Pistol – towards himself), with a terrorist outfit, said: “There is absolutely no link to the IS”.

However Police Spokesman Peter Beck, while proclaiming that there was no political motivation, admitted that officials did not yet know what triggered the crime.
Police came to the conclusion that the lone shooter was deranged and had likely been in psychiatric care. Police has further stated that there were indicators that Ali Sonboly had been treated for depression.

Officials here have revealed that the shooter named Ali David Sonboly had researched school killing sprees and attempted to lure victims to the scene of his killing spree with an offer of free food on social media.
According to a Police Investigator, the shooter Ali Sonboly had hacked a Facebook account and posted messages asking people to come to McDonald at 4PM (Friday): “I’ll give you something if you want, but not too expensive”.
It has further been revealed that the shooter who had been raised in Munich was still in full-time education. According to his classmates Ali Sonboly was very unpopular and hardly had any friends. He had been bullied at school.
Police said that Ali Sonboly was obsessed with mass murders and was NOT motivated by Islamist extremism.
He was obsessed with shooting sprees including the 2011 massacre in Norway carried out by the rightwing fanatic Anders Behring Breivik. Police found books about Columbine and Virginia Tech killers from his apartment in Marxvorstadt district. Police believe that the flat is owned by the parents of Ali Sonboly.
A neighbor informed the Police that he saw Ali David Sonboly a day earlier: “Yesterday at noon, I came home and I saw Ali here in the entrance of our building, he was still delivering newspapers the day of the shooting. It was strange though because he usually at least says hi to me because I do know him, but when I greeted him, he didn’t say a word to me and seemed strange and withdrawn.”
Police had also found (killing-spree-related clippings) from newspapers and books from his apartment.
Dr. Peter Langman’s book ‘Why Kids Kill: Inside the Minds of School Shooters’ was also part of his library.
