QUETTA: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday has been granted an extra 14-days remand of former finance secretary of Balochistan, Mushtaq Raisani.

The accountability court extended the remand on the request of the NAB officials in a hearing of the case where Raisani was produced before the court. NAB officials were directed to arrange a meeting of the Raisani with his family.

Raisani is accused of embezzlement of billions of rupees from the national exchequer and misuse of authority.

Another accused in the same case, Nadeem Iqbal, an accountant in Khaliqabad municipal committee and allegedly a facilitator in the corruption scam, has also been sent on 14 days remand.

Earlier on May 6, NAB recovered a ‘treasure’ of more than Rs. 730 million and a sizable quantity of gold from his residence of the Mushtaq Raisani in a raid.

Balochistan government posted Akbar Hussain Durrani, a top official in the home department as the province’s Secretary Finance.

Durrani was earlier serving as Balochistan’s home secretary.
