LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore arrested three persons of the management of Ferozpur City Housing Scheme, here over allegations of cheating public at large by selling thousands of illegal plots’ files worth billions of rupees.
According to NAB spokesman, the inquiry against management of Ferozpur City Housing Scheme, Lahore and others was authorized by the Director General NAB, Lahore, in April 2018 following the allegations of involvement of three accused namely Nazar Muhammad, Nadeem Ahmed, and Naeem Ahmed in the commission of offense of corrupt practices and cheating public at large.
According to the revelations during the course of inquiry, the accused in connivance with each other launched an illegal Housing Scheme namely Ferozpur City Housing scheme at Ferozpur Road, Lahore in 2016 and managed to collect hefty amounts ranging rupees two to three billion from around 5000 affectees on the pretext of booking of residential and commercial plots in the alleged Housing Scheme.
The accused persons launched massive advertisement campaign and began selling illegal files of plots to general public despite the fact that the alleged scheme was yet to be registered with Lahore Development Authority (LDA), whereas, LDA also issued a show cause notice to the alleged owners of said Housing Scheme to prevent them from selling of files/plots and advertisement campaign, altogether.
It is pertinent to mention here that NAB Lahore got published an ad in different newspapers against the administration of Ferozpur Housing Society on May 6, 2018, for obtaining claims from general public and in this regard, hundreds of claimants have approached NAB Lahore, so far.
NAB officials have taken Physical Remand of all three accused till 31st May for further inquiry, interrogation, and recovery of looted money.
