ISLAMABAD: Former director-general parks Liaquat Qaimkhani has been handed over to the NAB on a 14-day physical remand in fake bank accounts case.
Judge Muhammad Bashir of the accountability court ordered to hand over Qaimkhani to the NAB custody during the hearing today. Qaimkhani is alleged to have made assets beyond his known sources of income.
The remand was granted after the NAB prosecutor pleaded the court in order to launch probe into the case. Court, while accepting the plea by NAB prosecutor, granted 14 days remand and adjourned the hearing.
NAB raids house of former DG parks Karachi
In an important development in fake bank accounts case, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi raided the house of former Director General of Parks Karachi Liaquat Qaimkhani.
Qaimkhani was taken into custody by the NAB yesterday in relation to Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim case. He is accused of awarding fake contracts during his tenure in the metropolis.
During the raid at his house in Pakistan Employers Co-operative Housing Society (PECHS) Karachi, the NAB team recovered eight luxury cars, bonds and latest arms in large numbers.
Gold ornaments, documents of properties in Karachi and Lahore, gold buttons and cuff-links were also seized.
The team also recovered several files of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) from his house and two lockers of 6-feet each.
Qaimkhani was living a lavish life in Karachi, even doors of his house were remote-controlled operated and bathroom of the house was also constructed over two marala land.
