NAB submits report regarding auction of Dar’s assets

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Wednesday submitted a progress report with the Accountability Court regarding the auction of assets owned by former finance minister Ishaq Dar.
The report was submitted to Accountability Court-I Judge Muhammad Bashir, who heard the reference against Dar pertaining to his assets beyond known sources of income. The court had ordered to seize the property of accused as he continuously failed to attend the proceedings. The report, which was submitted by NAB’s investigation officer Nadir Abbas, stated that the department had shared details of Dar’s property and bank accounts with the provincial government of Punjab in accordance with the court orders.
It further stated that the bank accounts belonging to Dar and his companies with the balance of over Rs 500.8 million, had been seized. The Punjab government had also seized Dar’s house in Gulberg 3, Lahore, while the six acres land in Malot, Islamabad, had already been sold before the investigation into the case began.
The NAB IO also submitted a compliance report regarding the seizure of three plots owned by Dar, his wife, and his son. A raid was conducted at Ishaq Dar’s residence to impound his vehicles but the same was not found there.
It stated that the progress report regarding the sale of shares owned by the accused and his wife would be submitted to the court after receiving the updates from the Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
