ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif today claimed that his party had not sought any National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and urged the government to disclose the names of those who were asking for such a favor.
“Who has sought an NRO. The government should make public the names of the politicians or the political parties, who have sought the NRO,” he said talking to media persons here at the premises of Accountability Court.
He said it was the most painful time for him when his wife was breathing her last, he was in jail. He could not forget that time and would always regret not being at her side. He remained inactive politically since the death of his wife, he added.
Answering a question, Nawaz said being a good friend, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was respectable for him and his party was an ally of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. They had met yesterday (Sunday) and he would share the topics of discussion with his party leaders, he added.
