Speaker calls NA Session on 25th March

ISLAMABAD: Speaker Asad Qaisar has called the 41st session of the current NA on 25th day of March, 2022 at 11am at Parliament House.

NA Secretariat has issued a notification in this regard on Sunday (20th of March, 2022). The session, that has been summoned on the requisition made by the Opposition under Article 54 of the Constitution, is meant to take up the no-trust resolution against the PM submitted on Tuesday 8th day of March, 2022.

It is pertinent to mention here that following requisition harboring not less than twenty-five signatures of lawmakers, the speaker is bound to summon a session with fourteen days. But citing the OIC session and non-availability of Senate Hall due to on-going refurbishment, speaker had called the session of 25th instead of 22nd of March, 2022.

The speaker in the notification stated that in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under clause (3) of Article 54 he was summoning the session on 25th day of March.

NA session orderParliamentary Leader of PPP-P Senator Sherry Rehman, while commenting on the development tweeted: “Speaker cant arbitrarily delay the requisitioned session for the VONC.If he violates Article 54, which read with Art 95 of the Constitution of Pakistan, enjoins on him the duty of calling such a session within the outer limit of 14 days,he will invoke Article 6 for violation.”
