Nawaz Sharif Case: Punjab Govt. says no extension in bail

LAHORE: Former PM Nawaz Sharif’s application for extension in bail on medical grounds has been rejected by the Punjab Cabinet here today. 

Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat while talking to journalists at a Presser said the extension in bail period could not be granted on medical and legal grounds. He pointed out that the former PM was never admitted in any hospital in London since his departure sixteen weeks ago for medical treatment.

According to him the concerned medical board held several meetings and examined the his reports that were provided before his departure. He further held that following rejection by the cabinet Sharif’s bail will be cancelled.

Minister for Health, Dr. Yasmeen Rashid stated that the matter of the extension in the bail of Nawaz Sharif would l decided by the court. She noted that Sharif had failed to furnish any medical report to support his bail extension application.

LONDON: A snap showing severely ailing Nawaz Sharif taking tea at a restaurant here will make it difficult for him to get an extension from court enabling him to stay in London for treatment.Fawad Ch. NawazFederal Minister of Science Fawad Chaudhry (who uploaded the leaked photo on twitter, that went viral on Social Media reportedly showing Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Hasan Nawaz, Salman Shahbaz and Ishaq Dar at a London restaurant) quipped in Urdu: “In London’s intensive care unit, the treatment against plundering is underway and all patients present  are feeling better.”

Sources privy to Newspakistan.tv had insinuated that the snap was also discussed at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad. Meanwhile, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid said that after seeing  the snap she called Nawaz Sharif’s personal physician Dr Adnan Khan: “On the one hand, you say he is in a very critical condition then tell us, is it a part of it that you are socializing? Is it a part of the treatment?”

It is pertinent to mention here that on 23rd of December, 2019 deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif had sought an extension in his stay abroad on the expiry of the four-week period granted by LHC.

To ponder over his request government of Punjab formed a four-member committee in order to decide on it and on Friday the provincial government  asked for medical reports.

She further informed that Nawaz’s physician in London, David R. Lawrence, had sent a letter which was very similar to the summary earlier issued.

She further commented on Maryam Nawaz’s application (regarding going to London to take care of her father) asked where would she take care of him, at a restaurant?
