NBF Readers Club to enroll 32,000 members during 2018-19

ISLAMABAD: National Book Foundation (NBF) Readers Club will enroll 32,000 members all over the country during the financial year 2018-19.
The ceiling of each member has also been increased from Rs 5000 to Rs 6000 during the current year 2018-19, an official told APP on Thursday.  He said while the number of registered booksellers is around 95 all over the country. Readers Club is one of the most public-oriented books promotional activity attracting readers to buy books of their choice at half price. Besides, promoting reading habit, it encourages the overall book industry, helps increasing literacy rate, creates reasonable demand for good quality reading material and motivating young generation towards developing a reading culture in the society he added.
Membership for 2018-19 was completed on first come first serve basis in the major cities of the country including Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Wah Cantt, Multan, Peshawar, Abbottabad, D.I. Khan, Quetta, Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Gilgit & Muzaffarabad he said. Around 50% discount is allowed to members on printed price on books. Members are entitled to purchase any books of their choice. They will, however, not be entitled to buy textbooks, obscene/pornographic literature, anti-state and anti-religion material, magazines and periodicals under the scheme he said.
