ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Saturday that Sindh government has assured full support to Rangers in the province.
While addressing a news conference here, he said that Rangers are being given complete powers in Sindh.
“Sindh Rangers have full support of the federal and Sindh government. Hopefully, new chief minister of Sindh will resolve this issue,” Nisar said.
The minister expressed hope Rangers will get the extension of complete powers in a couple of days in Karachi.
He said that Rangers presence in the province, especially in Karachi, restored peace.
“Rangers was brought for the restoration of the security situation and peace in the metropolis,” Nisar said adding that those who were making the issue of Rangers powers controversial wanted to disrupt law and order situation in Karachi.
The interior minister hoped that the Karachi operation will progress well with the new team in Karachi.
Earlier in June, DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar had said that the Karachi operation was meant to eliminate crime from the city.
He said that Karachi operation would continue till complete eradication of terrorism. He further asked the religious and political parties to restrain from supporting criminals.
