NEW DELHI: Indian Army court-martialed Sepoy Chandu Babulal Chavan – who had deliberately crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan last year –  and incarcerated him for three months.

He abandoned his post at LoC due to his protests of mistreatment by his commanders. He willfully crossed the LoC on September 29, 2016, and handed himself over to the Pakistani Army.

Pakistan, that had negated the Indian claim apropos capturing its soldier, handed over Chavan to Indian authorities last January, at Wagah Border on humanitarian grounds.

Sepoy Chavan stated while talking to media that he crossed the border as an act of goodwill and in continuation of efforts to maintain tranquility and peace along LoC and Working Boundary.
