No strong talent present in Pakistan’s domestic structure: Afridi

KARACHI: Pakistan’s former T20 captain Shahid Afridi says he will continue playing the County Cricket and Pakistan Super League.

Afridi decided to leave the captainship of T20 last month after the bad performance by the team in T20 World cup 2016.

“Pakistan Cricket Board needs to make some effective decision about the future of the cricket. There is no strong talent present in Pakistan’s cricket,” said Afridi, adding that PCB should go back to the basics and work at the grassroots level.

“I think the Board needs to pay attention to school cricket and work at grassroots level,” he said.

Earlier on Monday, PCB Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq announced the training squad for England tour. Afridi, Ahmed Shahzad, and Umar Akmal were excluded from a month-long training camp.

Responding to the decision, All-rounder said he was not aware why Ahmed Shahzad and Umar Akmal were dropped from the side.

“I don’t know why they are dropped but if discipline is the reason then obviously they need to pay attention to this and work hard on their cricket,” Afridi said.
