“Not available”: Afridi turns down farewell offer by PCB

KARACHI: Former all-rounder Shahid Afridi has turned down Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s offer for farewell saying that he won’t be available due to prior commitments.

“Thank you for the meeting and farewell offers Najam Sethi. Unfortunately, due to my commitments, I won’t be able to take them,” Afridi said in a tweet.

PCB Executive Committee Official Najam Sethi met the cricketer and discussed the farewell match and possibility of future contribution to cricket.

Afridi’s farewell has been a matter of heated debate among the cricketing circles. The player has many times said that he deserved a fitting sendoff but the PCB was reluctant to it.

‘My desire was to set a new trend. I’m very happy that Misbah and Younis are getting proper farewells. I hope this trend will continue in future,’ he added.
