WASHINGTON: Family of 37-year-old Italian aid-worker Giovanni Lo Porto, who was killed in a US drone strike in January, 2015 will be paid a compensation of $3 million.

Porto was killed alongwith an American named Warren Weinstein (73). Obama Administration has yet to reach an agreement with the heirs of Weinstein.

The announcement took one-and-half year after Obama apologized over the death of the two aid workers in the captivity of Talibaan.

It is not clear how much (if any)  condolence payments were paid to the Pakistanis killed in such strikes.
