LONDON: Begum Shamim Akhtar, mother of deposed PM Nawaz Sharif and former CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, died after protracted illness at the age of 90 in here today. 

PML-N’s Atta Tarar took to the Tweet to inform that Begum Akhtar was staying with her London-based son Nawaz Sharif since February, 2020.

Though fer other son Shahbaz Sharif is incarcerated in Lahore jail, the Provincial Government of Punjab has decided to release Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz on parole as soon as they apply for it.

PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif was informed about the death of her grandmother during PDM’s public rally being held in Peshawar today.

PM Imran Khan, COAS and other leaders of various political parties had sent condolence messages to the Sharif family.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan also expressed heartfelt condolence over her demise.

In a statement issued, he prayed Allah Almighty for eternal peace to the departed soul and granting courage to bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
