PAD to organize 2-day Horti Expo in Lahore

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) is organizing a two-day Horti-Expo 2019 at Expo Center in Lahore from 21st of this month.

The department’s spokesman said, the expo will be an ultimate opportunity for growers, processors and exporters to develop linkages with international stakeholders.

He said that the event depicts commitment of the department for growth of horticulture trade in domestic and international markets.

He said that importers and exporters can contact on 042-99205071-72 for booking of stalls at the expo.

British citizens availing Pakistan E-visa facility

LONDON: Pakistan High Commission London has successfully started E-visa services with effect from March 22, 2019.

The prime minister of Pakistan had inaugurated the launch of E-VISA Services on March 14, 2019 for five countries including the United Kingdom.

On the first day of E-visa services, more than 20 cases were successfully processed and hopefully the number would be increased rapidly.

Pakistan High Commissioner to United Kingdom Mohammad Nafees Zakaria also shared this news during his speech after flag hoisting ceremony here at Pakistan High Commission on Saturday.

The High Commission had taken pride in the successful launch of E-visa and was confident that this initiative would significantly boost the number of visits to Pakistan by the British citizens for business and tourism purposes.

President confers top civil, military awards amongst different personalities on Pakistan Day

ISLAMABAD: An investiture ceremony to confer civil and military awards amongst different personalities for their contributions in different fields is underway at Aiwan-e-Sadr here.

President Arif Alvi is decorating the awards to the recipients.

Hilal-e-Imtiaz Military and Sitara-e-Basalat were conferred on officers and jawans of all three services.

The President also conferred 127 civil awards amongst different personalities for their contributions in different fields.

These include one Nishan-i-Imtiaz, three Hilal-e-Pakistan, eight Hilal-e-Imtiaz, three Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam, four Sitara-e- Pakistan, four Sitara-e-Shuja’at, thirty four Sitara-e-Imtiaz, 28 President’s Award for Pride of Performance, one Sitara-e-Quaid-e-Azam, one Tamgha-e-Pakistan,  23 Tamgha-e-Shuja’at and seventeen Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

Amongst the prominent personalities being conferred with awards include martyred Nawabzada Mir Siraj Khan Raisani, Aftab Sultan, Radio Pakistan’s newscaster and anchor person Ms Ishrat Fatima, President of Pakistan Arts Council Karachi Mohammad Ahmed Shah, cricket stars Wasim Akram , Waqar Younis, Yasir Shah, film actresses Babra Sharif Reema Khan and Mehwish Hayat, actors Muhammad Shabbir Jan and Iftikhar Ahmad Thakar,  singers Sajjad Ali and Munir Hussain (late).

PIA approves new policy for cabin crew

KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has approved a new policy for ground jobs of cabin crew.

PIA Chief Executive Officer Air Marshal Arshad Malik has given approval for the new policy. The policy would be applicable for permanent and contractual employees, read the notification issued in this regard.

Application could only be submitted for ground service on completion of 10 years of service.

The airline management would itself decide to appoint cabin crew in any department. Following approval of the management for ground job, the employee would not be allowed for flight service.

“Employees will be bound to perform the duty and shift assigned to them on ground service,” said the notification.

It said they could be called for flight duty, when needed.

“Selected and top performer cabin crew may be deputed on ground jobs only within Flight Services Department purely on company requirement with valid justification. They may be called back for flying duties subject to the company requirement,” the company circular read.

“The grounded cabin crew will mark their attendance through TMS and all rules of leave/ promotions etc, shall be applicable to the grounded crew as applicable to admin category employees,” it added.
