PAF FT-7 trainer crash lands, two pilots martyred

MIANWALI (M. M. ALAM BASE): A PAF FT-7 aircraft on a routine operational training mission had crash landed here today as a result two Pakistan Air Force pilots (Sq. Leader Haris bin Khalid and Flying Officer Ibaad-ur-Rehman were martyred.

A board of inquiry has been ordered by Air Headquarters in order to figure out the cause of accident. It is pertinent to mention here that some fourteen FT-7 aircraft and its variants operated by PAF had crashed over the last 18 years.

KARACHI: The fourth martyrdom anniversary of Pakistan’s first female fighter pilot, Marium Mukhtiar is being observed today (Sunday 24th of November 2019).

Marium was on a routine training flight when her jet developed a fault and crashed at Kandian area in Bhakra near Mianwali four years ago. Despite ejection before the crash she suffered serious injuries which proved fatal.The government of Pakistan posthumously bestowed upon her the Tamgha-e-Basalat on 23rd March 2016.

Her father, Mukhtiar Ahmed Shaikh was a retired colonel of the Pakistan Army, who inspired her to join the armed forces. After receiving basic schooling here she graduated as fighter pilot in 2007 (with seven other female Pakistanis who also graduated as pilot officers) and on 6th of May, 2011, she joined PAF.

CM Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar while commenting on her patriotism, bravery and determination termed her an example Pakistanis: “Brave and talented daughters of the nation like Marium Mukhtiar are an asset and a ray of hope for the nation.”

ISLAMABAD: Third death anniversary of the female fighter pilot, Flying Officer Marium Mukhtiar was observed today.

She was the first female pilot of Pakistan Air Force who sacrificed her life in the line of duty and attained Shahadat. She was on a mission when her trainer jet crashed near Kundian area of district Mianwali two years ago. She was on a mission on an FT-7PG aircraft and encountered a “serious in-flight emergency” during the final stages, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) said in a statement when her trainer jet crashed near Kundian area of district Mianwali 3 years ago, a private news channel reported.

Born on May 18, 1992, in Karachi, Mariam Mukhtiar hailed from a family having a military background.  Her father, Mukhtiar Ahmed Shaikh was a retired colonel of the Pakistan Army, who inspired her to join the armed forces. Marium after receiving her initial education from Karachi graduated as a fighter pilot in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in 2007 with seven other female Pakistanis who also graduated as pilot officers. On 6th May 2011, she joined the Pakistan Air Force in 132 GD Pilot course. The government of Pakistan posthumously honored Marium Mukhtiar with Tamgha-e-Basalat on 23rd March 2016.

Biopic on martyred PAF pilot Marium Mukhtiar’s trailer released

KARACHI: Initial trailer of a biopic on martyred Pakistan Air Force (PAF) pilot Marium Mukhtiar who died in a plane crash, has been released on Tuesday.

The movie ‘Ek Thi Marium’, written by novelist and drama writer Umera Ahmed, is directed by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat. It features actress Sanam Baloch as the brave national hero Marium, the first and only female air force pilot to have achieved martyrdom late last year.

In an interview, the director of the movie, Sarmad Khoosat said: “Based on her [Marium]’s life and struggles, it tells the tale of a patriotic girl who from her childhood has aspired to serve in the air force. Her passion wins her acceptance but she struggles; trying to adjust to the grueling training. All this while her mother’s voice guides her, telling her not to give up, preparing her for her ultimate martyrdom.”

Pilot embraces shahadat as PAF jet crashes in Mianwali

LAHORE: A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) pilot was martyred after his plane crashed due a technical fault during a routine operational flight in the Sabzazar area of Mianwali, a statement by the air force said.

According to air force’s media wing, the pilot of the aircraft lost his life as he failed to eject at the time of the crash.

“Wing Commander Mohammad Shahzad was flying an F-7 aircraft when it encountered a technical fault and crashed near the Sabzazar area of Mianwali, some 350-km from Lahore, late on Tuesday,” it said.

“The body of the deceased pilot was recovered from the site of the incident and shifted to Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Base MM Alam, Mianwali, where the funeral prayers were also offered,” the statement said, adding that an investigation into the crash has been launched by the air force.

According to an eyewitness, the fighter jet crashed in a forest just after take-off from MM Alam airbase (Mianwali).

PAF Mirage jet crashes in Karachi’s Musharraf colony, pilot embraces martyrdom

KARACHI: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has confirmed the death of its pilot in a crash due to technical fault this morning.

“A Mirage plane crashed near Musharraf colony,” said the officials.

The jet crashed shortly before take-off here in the city. The PAF spokesperson said the pilot embraced martyrdom after he flied away the jet from a residential area to prevent any damage.

“A technical fault developed in the aircraft when it took flight from Masroor Airbase,” said the spokesperson, adding that the jet was on a routine operational training mission when it crashed.

Rescue teams have reached the site of the crash.

A spokesman of Pakistan Air Force said that an inquiry board has been formed to probe the crash.

It should be noted that Flight Lieutenant Umar Shahzad was killed when his training jet had crashed in Jamrud on 24th September.

Pilot embraces shahadat as PAF jet crashes near Jamrud

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on Saturday confirmed the death of a pilot in an air crash near Jamrud.

“Flight Lieutenant Umar Shahzad has been martyred in the plane crash near Jamrud,” said a spokesman of the air force.

However, no loss or damage was reported in the suburban areas.

Umar Shahzad was on a routine operational training mission when he lost control of the aircraft, he added.

Air Headquarters has formed an inquiry board to investigate the cause of the air crash.

In March 2015, two PAF pilots embraced shahadat when their jet crashed during a training mission in Dera Ismail Khan.
