Pak Squash: Highly flawed national ranking!

WANIA ATHER

KARACHI: The national squash ranking by Pakistan Squash Federation is found highly flawed.

In the recent analysis of national rankings it was disclosed that the names of many players who retired from squash years ago are still in the list.

Even names of those players are present in the list who left the country years ago. Besides, many players are placed in the category in which they don’t play.

For instance, NewsPakistan.tv has learnt that Saad Abdullah and Sikandar Khan are included in under-19 rankings although they are overage for this category.

Mujtaba Raza has left the country and Javed Ali is away from squash for a long time.

In the senior category for men, players like Faizan Khan, Saad Shahid, Jahanzeb Khan, Azam Khan, Karamtullah and Kashif Khan, who live abroad, are still getting ranks.

NewsPakistan.tv has learnt of other anomalies too. For instance, in female section, under-15 Unaiza Nasir’s name appears among players from Sindh though she belongs to Punjab.

Roma Yousuf, Myral Sheikh, Maria Saleem, Marina Zafar and Aroma Kamran are placed in under-15 category instead of under-19.

In senior side, Irum Jehan and Khanum quit playing long ago but are still getting new ranks.

When PSF Secretary Amir Nawaz was informed about these and numerous other miscodings, he admitted: “There are issues with the national rankings and they would be rectified soon”
