ISLAMABAD: Speaking at a Pakistan-Turkey Business Forum event here today President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has vowed to take bilateral trade volume to one billion dollars in the first phase and eventually to five billion dollars later.
President Erdogan maintaining there was vast scope for increasing the current two way trade volume of 800 million dollars, stated that he wanted to take the commercial relations between the two brotherly countries to the same level as political ties.
Reiterating that Turkey was one of the top twenty economies of the world, Erdogan stated that they had brought down their debt from 72 percent of GDP to 33 percent.
Focusing on the Tourism Sector he informed that the sector yielded $ 35 billion as the number of tourists augmented from 13 million to 68 million. He maintained that Pakistan had a huge untapped potential in tourism.
Prime Minister Imran Khan noted that Pakistan could greatly benefit from the Turkish experience in the development of necessary infrastructure for the promotion of tourism: “Pakistan also desires to learn from the experiences of Turkey in the fields of agriculture and mining”, he held. PM assured to fully facilitate Turkish business community.

ISLAMABAD: The President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan while addressing the joint session of the Parliament here today held that Turkey stuck to the stance on resolution of outstanding Kashmir dispute through dialogue and peaceful means on the basis of justice.
Erdogan noted that Kashmiri brothers had been living under difficult circumstances over the years and recent unilateral steps had further added to their woes and the situation had assumed alarming situation.
Turkish President held that depriving the Kashmiris of their freedom and usurping their rights was not in anybody’s interests. He said Turkish people felt for the Kashmiris the same way like the Muslims of this region felt for them during Khilafat Movement.
Pointing to his UNGA speech where he had extended support to the Kashmiri people, Recep Tayyip Erdogan rejected the US Middle East Plan saying it was not a peace plan but aimed at occupying the Palestinian territory.
He lauded efforts of Pakistan for peace and security of Afghanistan. Speaking about the Pakistan’s efforts in the war on terrorism, Erdogan held the menace had affected the country. He said Turkey was fully cognizant of the problems of Pakistan and would extend full support.
Turkish President held that Pakistan was facing political pressure at the FATF and his country would fully back it at the global forum. He reiterated that Turkey would continue to support Pakistan on important matters as in the past.
Expressing satisfaction that Pakistan was moving forward on the path of progress and prosperity, President Erdogan said that he was confident that Pakistan and Turkey would move forward to enhance economic partnership. According to him Pak-Turkey friendship was not based on any interest but love and affection. He said Pakistan and Turkey enjoyed everlasting friendship which was an example for the whole world.
Saying that he considered Pakistan as his home, he said Turkey reckoned the successes of Pakistan as its own. President Erdogan noted that two brotherly countries supported each other during natural calamities.
The Turkish President spoke at length on the historic relations between Pakistan and Turkey. He said the people of Turkey can never forget the wholehearted support extended by the people of this region during Khilafat Movement.
