ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Friday that Pakistan wants Afghanistan and India to cooperate with Pakistan in the elimination of terrorism from the region.
In an interview, the minister said that Pakistan has been fighting a successful war against terrorism.
“Terrorism is not an issue of Pakistan but the entire world, Asif said, “Pakistan was successfully fighting the war on terror to maintain complete peace in the region.”
He said that double standard should not be adopted in the war against terrorism.
“Pakistan had played the front-line role against terrorism and it had rendered a large number of sacrifices for eliminating terrorism and establish durable peace globally,” said Asif.
The Defence Minister further said that international community has highly appreciated and acknowledged Pakistan’s achievements in the elimination of terrorism.
Referring to the latest drone attack in Pakistan which killed Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour, Asif said the United States violated Pakistan’s sovereignty by targeting the Taliban supremo in the premises of Pakistan.
He said the meeting of National Security Council on the issue of drone attack will be held after the return of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
