RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif reached Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China for a day-long visit on Wednesday.
According to a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS witnessed counter-terrorism exercise in Ku’erla (Korla) training base of People Liberation Army (PLA) and held meetings with Chief of General Staff General Fang Fenghui of People Liberation Army (PLA).

“Both the military leaders discussed military to military relations, bilateral security cooperation and all dimension of long-term CPEC security,” said ISPR.
Army Chiefs of Afghanistan and Tajikistan were also present on the occasion.
The army chief also held separate meeting with Party Secretary of Xinjiang province, Zhang Chun Xian in Urumqi.
They discussed Pak-China bilateral relations and regional security issue with particular reference to CPEC completion and its security.
