Pakistan goes No.2 in ICC Test team rankings

DUBAI: Pakistan cricket team has been upgraded to number two in the new Test team rankings of International Cricket Council.

The new rankings were announced after Australia lost to Sri Lanka in the third and final Test series.

As Sri Lanka thumped Australia to a historic series whitewash in Colombo, the national team of Pakistan further went one spot ahead to move up to number two in the Test rankings. India became the world’s number one Test team again, as Australia slumped to the third spot.

However, Pakistan can still claim the top spot from India for the ICC Test team rankings, provided India and West Indies draw the fourth Test match tomorrow. India would then claim the number two spot in the rankings.

Pakistan recently drew their away series with England 2-2 after a historic 10-wicket victory at The Oval on Sunday. The victory allowed Misbah-ul-Haq’s men to reclaim their number three spot in the rankings despite losing two Test matches repeatedly.
