ISLAMABAD: SAPM on Information & Broadcasting, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has taken to the Twitter today to laud the Japanese assistance of US$ 2.16 million for Pakistan to deal with coronavirus.
Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan noted that Japan had always helped Pakistan in difficult times. She claimed that the government was taking every possible step for the protection of its people from coronavirus.
She reiterated that PTI Government’s priority was to provide relief to the deserving families.

Ehsaas Program receives millions of SMS

ISLAMABAD: Government stated that millions of SMS on 8171 had been received for Rs. 12,000/- cash grant under Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program launched yesterday (1st of April, 2020).
This was revealed here today by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Dr. Sania Nishtar. She reiterated that Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program was meant for the deserving families particularly the daily wagers facing financial problems due to the menace of Coronavirus.
Informing that people will be able to draw the cash grant from 8th of April Sania Nishtar claimed that transparency had been ensured by using the technology based system.
PM launches SMS service under Ehsaas Program

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has today formally launched SMS service under Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program.
According to details, by means of this service, a sum of Rs. 12,000/- will be transferred in the accounts of deserving people.
People can send their CNIC No to 817. They will be informed regarding their eligibility for emergency cash.
SMS Service 8171 is being launched to support poor

ISLAMABAD: Dr. Sania Nishtar, SAPM on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Dr. Sania Nishtar has revealed today that SMS service 8171 will be launched today facilitating deserving families to benefit from Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program.
She claimed that the Rs.150 billion project was the country’s biggest social protection program launched for the poor families facing financial problems due to coronavirus.
According to details a cash grant of Rs. 12,000/- will be given to the deserving families through a transparent mechanism. Families desiring to benefit from the program should send their NIC numbers on the SMS code 8171.
Ehsaas Ration Platform has also been launched to connect people wanting to donate food ration to those in need. Sania Nishtar informed that 35,000 deserving families and 600 donors have got themselves registered on the online platform.
It is pertinent to mention here that the deserving families benefit from both these programs at the same time.
PM inaugurates Rs. 15 billion Ehsaas Amdan Program in 23 districts

LAYYAH: PM Imran Khan inaugurated the Rs.15 billion Ehsaas Amdan program here.
Speaking on the occasion PM referred to the Ehsaas Kafalat Program launched this year in January. Imran Khan said that women were being given Rs. 2,000 each month.
Focusing on the Ehsaas Amdan Program he said each woman will be given one cow, one buffalo and three goats so she can run her own home.
“Every month 80,000 people will be given loans and 50,000 students from the downtrodden section of society will be awarded scholarships every year.
“We want the system to be equal for the rich and the poor,” he said, adding that this equality will be brought in all aspects of governance.
“Till now the common man was not secure but I want to congratulate the new IG Shoaib Dastagir because today in Punjab I have told him to go after the big gangsters.”
“Government schoolteachers who do not come to the schools will be fired and teachers willing to teach will be hired in their place.”
“Pakistan is out of difficult times, there are challenges ahead but the country is on the right path…You will hear more good news in the coming days.
“Under the Rs.15 billion program, people living below the poverty line will be given small assets to use for income generation and to lift themselves out of poverty.”
‘Ehsaas’ endeavors to reduce poverty: PM
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has stated that PTI’s Ehsaas programme was a step towards the creation of a welfare state, aimed at reducing inequality, alleviating poverty, investment in people and uplift of districts lagging behind in development.
In a 15-page policy statement released here by the PM Office, he said Ehsaas launched on March 27, would use data and technology to create precision safety nets, promote financial inclusion and access to digital services, and support the economic empowerment of women.
He said the programme would focus on four areas through 115 policy actions. It relied on addressing the chronic issue of elite capture – a form of corruption whereby public resources were biased for the benefit of a few individuals of superior social status.
The other three priority areas, he said, aimed at making the government system create equality, safety nets for disadvantaged segments of the population, jobs, and livelihoods, and human capital development.
“Ehsaas is the biggest and the boldest programme for the poor, ever launched in Pakistan,” the prime minister said in his statement.
“The government looks forward to working with all stakeholders—public, private, civil society, philanthropists, and expatriate Pakistanis—to ensure that we deliver on our promise of lifting millions of people out of poverty and build a strong foundation together for a stronger, safer, and successful Pakistan.”
The programme developed by the Poverty Alleviation Coordination Council after extensive consultations would also focus on the central role of human capital formation for poverty eradication, economic growth, and sustainable development, besides overcoming financial barriers to accessing health and post-secondary education.
The prime minister, in a tweet, said he was pleased to release his policy statement on Ehsaas – “my priority poverty reduction programme with its 4 focus areas and 115 policy actions to reduce inequality, invest in people, and uplift lagging districts.”
He said the programme’s premise was grounded in the importance of strengthening institutions, transparency, and good governance. It was designed for the extremely poor, orphans, widows, homeless, disabled and those, who risked medical impoverishment.
Imran Khan said it would also cater to the jobless, poor farmers, laborers, the sick and undernourished, students from low-income backgrounds, poor women and elderly citizens.
He pointed out that it would center on tapping whole-of-government multi-sectoral collaboration for a solution, ensuring joint federal-provincial leadership, and mainstreaming the role of the private sector. The program would also create jobs and promote means for a livelihood, he added.
