NEWLANDS: Pakistan’s batting line, which kept failing again and again in the last year, followed their traditional way once again in the different year.
It was Newlands this time where Pakistan cricket team failed to reach any respectable score against South Africa. The entire team was bowled out once again for just 177 runs in their first innings. Green shirts miscarried the innings versus South African pacers, with any degree of self-belief or confidence.
South Africa was at 123-2 at the end of the first day’s play in the ongoing second Test. Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed’s knock of 56 was the only score above 50 for Pakistan. For South Africa, first it was Duanne Oliver with his spell of 4-48, and then Aiden Markram who scored a brilliant half-century.
The second day’s play will resume with Hashim Amla walking out to bat with Faf du Plessis.
