Pakistan Origin Card to be replaced with Temporary Residence Card: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that the government was reviewing to re-issue the Pakistan Origin Card and replace it with Temporary Residence Card.

“Initially, the origin cards would be issued for five years,” the minister said while addressing a press conference here on Saturday.

“Pakistani Origin Card will be replaced with Temporary Residence Card,” he said, adding that we have received complaints of misuse of Pakistani passports.

The federal minister claimed that there was no record available of remittances worth Rs103 billion in the country.

“There is no record of senders and receivers of this remittance. The past government and some others were on the same on this issue,” Nisar said.

The minister further went on to say that a new procedure has been formed for the registration of NGOs.

“Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) had been working here without permission for last 10 years,” he said. “We have received 130 applications from NGOs for their registration.”

He said that politics was being done on the issue of blocked NICs. He said that over 1,25,000 NICs were blocked excluding Pashto speaking people.
