ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s special aide on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz said on Thursday that Pakistan is playing the positive role for regional peace and stability.
He was talking to a Swedish delegation led by the Special Representative of the Swedish Prime Minister who called on him at the Foreign Office Islamabad.
According to a press release issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Aziz received Mr. Carl Bildt, former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the Swedish Prime Minister, who was accompanied by Ms. Anna Karin Enestrom, Director General, Political Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, at the Foreign Office today (Thursday).
“The Swedish delegation, which is on a two-day official visit to Pakistan, called on PM’s Advisor Sartaj Aziz to hold discussions focused on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual concern including UNSC reforms and cooperation at international fora,” read the statement.
Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakariya said that in the meeting, Pakistan and Sweden agreed on further enhancing bilateral economic ties.
On the occasion, Aziz also briefed the delegation about Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts and the comprehensive policy of National Action Plan (NAP) to root out the menace of terrorism and extremism from Pakistan.
The Swedish delegation appreciated Pakistan’s progress in the consolidation of democracy, improvement in the economy and defeating terrorism.
