ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain Friday said Pakistan was promoting peace and tolerance in the region and not terrorism.
Talking to a private news channel in the context of Indian government allegation regarding the Pulwama incident. Terming the allegation as false and baseless he said India was habitual to blame Pakistan. It tries to develop the link of every terrorist incident that took place on their side with Pakistan. It was a very unfortunate attitude of the Indian government to blame Pakistan for such an incident without any evidence and investigation.
People were enjoying the freedom and better human rights in Pakistan, while India was violating the human rights in held Kashmir, he said.  Opening Kartar Pura Corridor was a peace initiative of Pakistan, he said and added the present government wanted to develop good relations with neighboring countries, including India.
Replying to a question, he said Pakistan was playing its due role to restore peace in Afghanistan and taking steps for promoting trade and exports activities in the region. He said such incident was supporting Modi’s government as they were trying to win the election on anti-Pakistan slogans.

Pakistan seeks greater partnership with WB: PM

ISLAMABAD:  Imran Khan has told WB that Pakistan looked forward to greater partnership with World Bank (WB) in critical areas including eco-tourism, mountain, and religious tourism.

Talking to a delegation of World Bank headed by Vice President South Asia Hartwig Schafer in Islamabad today Imran Khan said that these sectors which have a huge potential towards the uplift of the poor and poverty alleviation. He highlighted various steps being taken by the government towards economic stability, poverty alleviation and improving ease of doing business in the country. The delegation comprised of Vice President Human Development Annete Dixon, Country Director Illangovan Patchamuthu, Operations Manager Melinda Good and Senior Country Manager IFC Nadeem Siddiqui. Special Assistant of Prime Minister on Political Affairs Naeem-ul-Haq, Secretary Finance Arif Ahmed Khan and others were also present in the meeting.

The delegation appreciated Prime Minister’s vision on the economic stability of the country, human development and addressing the issue of stunted growth due to malnutrition. It briefed the Prime Minister about various ongoing projects of the World Bank in various sectors including water supply, sewerage and waste management, transportation and connectivity, capacity building and ease of doing business in the country.  It also offered WB’s assistance in attracting foreign investments, analytics, sharing of expertise and technical knowledge in various sectors to help the Government translate its vision into reality. Welcoming the offer, the Prime Minister appreciated World Bank’s continued engagement with Pakistan and its support towards capacity building, infrastructure development and economic growth.

Latest weapons being provided to Police

RAWALPINDI: IGP Punjab, Amjad Javed Saleemi on Monday said that in order to promote professional skills of the police force, the cops were being equipped with the latest training facilities to curb crimes.
He stated this while addressing 60th passing-out Parade of 217 ASIs in Police College. Addl. IG Police training (Punjab) Tariq Masood Yasin, Superintendent College Sihala Amir Khaleel Syed, City Police Officer (CPO) Abbas Ahsan, senior police officers, and faculty members were present on the occasion. Smartly dressed contingents of police marched passed in front of the dais. IGP appreciated the high standard of the parade. Addressing the participants he said that in the present age where criminals had to find out new methods of criminal activities, it was imperative that standards of police training would also be improved in accordance with the requirements. He said that the police force was being made people-friendly and the police officers were directed to fulfill their obligation of providing security to the people. He said the police force had rendered great services for maintenance of peace and the officers and officials had presented their lives while discharging their professional responsibilities.
He said they were trying to dispel the negative impression of police by inculcating high moral values and sense of responsibility among the police force. The IGP said those who had been recruited were lucky because they had been entrusted responsibility to safeguard the lives and properties of the citizens. Amjad Javed said that latest weapons had been provided to police to enable them to foil the attempts of anti-state elements. He said that police force had been made service-oriented police by imparting them training of security intelligence, crime central investigation, and other similar disciplines. Commandant Police College Sihala Muhammad Ihsan Tufail on the occasion said that syllabus of college had been reviewed and new disciplines were incorporated in the training modules. He said that the College had imparted training to 90,000 police officials, terming it the best training institute in the country.

CPWB to launch awareness campaign

LAHORE: The Child Protection & Welfare Bureau (CPWB) has decided to launch an awareness campaign in far-flung areas of the province on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.
The CM said that children are our future and the CPWB should create awareness among the public through a sustained campaign to save the children from societal evils. “We will make every effort to protect the children’s rights,” he added.
In this regard, Chairperson CPWB Ms. Sara Ahmad will visit southern Punjab’s child protection bureau, SOS children’s village and social welfare department in Multan on March 19.
On 20th March, she will visit DG Khan to initiate a public awareness campaign. She will lead an awareness walk beside addressing students at a local school and a college in Taunsa Sharif.
