ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani Monday said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were intertwined into shared bonds of history, culture, faith, values and common position on regional and international issues adds to further cementing of mutual trust and cooperation.
Chairman Senate expressed these views in a meeting with Imam-e-Kaaba Dr. Sheikh Abdul-Elah Al-Juhani here at Parliament House, said a news release.
Chairman Senate observed that cooperation between the two sides has evolved into a durable, broad-based and comprehensive partnership.
He expressed satisfaction over the expected flow of Saudi investment in Pakistan, adding that this would provide opportunities to Saudi investors to invest in different sectors and take the relationship to new heights.
Chairman Senate thanked Saudi Arabia for increasing the Hajj quota and inclusion of Pakistan in Road to Mecca initiative.
He said Saudi Arabia and particularly the Crown Prince played a commendable role in defusing tension between Pakistan and India.
During the meeting, besides Chairman Senate, Pakistani side was also represented by Leader of the House in the Senate Syed Shibli Fraz, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Raja Muhammad Zafar-ul-Haq and Senators Azam Khan Swati, Sajjad Hussain Turi Moula Bux Chandio and Dilawar Khan.
Leader of the House in the Senate, Senator Shibli Faraz termed the visit of Imam-e-Kaaba an important one and said Pakistanis place relationship with Saudi Arabia at high esteem and our relationship has stood the ups and down.
Leader of the Opposition in the Senate observed that Saudi Arabia was close to our hearts.
Imam-e-Kaaba agreed with the views of Senate Chairman and said the visit of the Crown Prince has help boost mutual cooperation.
