Pakistan takes part in military drill CENTRE 2019 in Russia

DONGUZ (Russia): The six-day multinational military drill CENTRE 2019 (TSENTR19) under the ambit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has commenced here on Monday 16th of September, 2019. Exercise Centre 2019Military contingents from Pakistan, China, India, the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are taking part in this international exercise. All the eight participating countries had sent their senior military officials to attend the inaugural ceremony that took place in the southern Orenburg region.

According to sources privy to NPTV over 128,000 personnel from participating countries, 20,000 units of military equipment (including 450 artillery systems) and 600 aircraft are involved in the CENTRE 2019 mass anti-terrorism exercises, at different locations. The largest foreign participant is China. People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has pitched in 1600 men. The Chinese force consists of mechanized infantry and air-force units. 

Host Russia is providing most of the units for the exercise (from Central Military District, Eastern Military District, Airborne Troops, Russian Air Force Military Transport Aviation). Its Caspian Flotilla is providing 15 vessels, including support assets, in order to support ground-based operations from the Caspian Sea. Training is being conducted across 8 combined arms training ranges (including Totsky and Donguz in the Orenburg region, Adanak in Dagestan and Ashuluk). Some stages of the drill are being held in the member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) – Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan

CENTER is an exercise that is meant to train participating armies to better fight against global terrorism ensuring region’s security and stability. The first stage of CENTRE 2019 exercise  is designed to demonstrate the use of command-and-control (C2) structures in the fight against terrorism, repulsing air strikes, reconnaissance, and defensive actions. Centre Military ExercisePS: Pundits at the helm of affairs insinuate that major benefit from the CENTRE 19 exercises to Russia is the test of the mobilization and deployment of the participating troops from different regions ranging from Stavropol to Vladivostok. Cynics believe that last year during the preparation phase of Vostok 18, under the cover of drills, Russia moved older equipment to the Ukrainian border.
