Pakistan wants ‘peaceful co-existence’ with neighbours: FM

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday said Pakistan is desirous of good ties with its neighboring countries as it holds peace and development of the region in priority.

In an exclusive talk with PTV news before leaving Pakistan for three-day visit, the minister said establishing close trade and political ties with regional countries is amongst top priorities of PTI’s government.

“Pakistan is a peace loving country and has always maintained the policy of having friendly relations with other countries particularly its neighbours,” he said.

“Pakistan wants good relations with all neighboring countries and has always given preference to resolve issues through dialogue,” he said.

He highlighted that during the visit in Afghanistan, Iran, China and Russia, he will exchange views on bilateral relations of these countries with Pakistan.

Matters of regional peace and stability and peace in Afghanistan would also be discussed during the visit, he added.

Pakistan is committed to take any initiative for Afghan peace, he mentioned.

He emphasized that there is a need for strengthening trade relations with the neighbor countries.

He said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is making serious efforts for resolving problems faced by the country as well as to steer it out of crises.
