Pakistani producers move LHC seeking ban on Bollywood movies

MEHWISH

LAHORE: Litigation has been ensued by a group of producers and distributors of Pakistani Film Industry   here at Lahore High Court. It seeks a ban on Bollywood films being shown in the country claiming these are a threat to local production.

“There is a need for these [Bollywood] films if you want to save the Pakistani cinema industry” said Nadir Minhas, director of PAF cinema in Lahore.

On the other hand the group seeking ban claims that Bollywood movies are a threat to local producers and distributors financially. They say that these movies detain audience from watching Pakistani movies as the cinema industry is growing only in the middle class that doesn’t watch Pakistani movies.
