Pakistan’s cotton production falls drastically

KARACHI: According to Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA)’s report country’s cotton production fell by 34.35 per cent to 5.571 million bales up to Jan 31 against 8.487m bales produced in the same period of last year.

Perceptively, the shortfall of 2.9 million bales would negatively affect textile exports that has 55 to 60pc contribution in Pakistan’s total exports.

It is pertinent to mention here that this happens to be the lowest production in the last 3 decades.
