Pakistan’s democracy progressing successfully: Mamnoon

ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain said on Wednesday that Pakistan’s democracy has been progressing successfully despite ups and downs.

While addressing a joint session of the parliament on Wednesday, the President said that sustainable development is not possible at all without a stable democracy in the country.

“We should take serious measures as there is no room for making mistakes,” he said, “Political progression is the testimony to the fact that political system has gained the potential to face crises successfully.”

The President addressed the joint session of the Parliament in the absence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, marking the beginning of a new parliamentary year. He also congratulated the people of Pakistan and parliamentarians on completing three democratic years.

“No one would be allowed to derail the existing democratic system of the country,” he said adding that the nation supports democracy and wants the democratic system in the country.
