Paris Fashion Week: Best of Indonesia

PARIS:  Prestigious Westin was the venue where globally acclaimed Fashion Division showcased Womenswear at Paris Fashion Week 2022 featuring collection of 12 Indonesian brands on Saturday 5th March.

In the words of Karl Lagerfeld: “Fashion is not only about clothes – It’s about all kinds of change”.  And this new upcoming talent from Indonesia is that change!

Harry Halim presented his unique signature style using sculptural shapes, bold cutting and twisted take on romanticism. AKSU that was first debuted during Jakarta Fashion Week is a brand targeted to young fashion and art aficionados who look for uniqueness and conceptuality.

Purana utilized artwork made by local artisans amalgamating the fashionable cuts, patterns and color mix.  Var Etre that embraces Human Rawness and Fault presented ready to wear fashion – a fusion of modern and intricate detailing.

Carol Chen’s works are influenced by Singapore’s modernity, inclusive culture and architecture. Adisza Kahanasty presented craftsmanship with a twist of modernized silhouettes for daily wear.

AM by Anggia used recycling as its design strategy using rejected denim garments with a combination of locally fabricated environment-friendly textiles. Hanyutan collection was feminine with a strong edge using unique silhouettes.

Adraworld X MHMNS used strong prints, colors and shapes to convey motion and social change. Elima attempted to convey a message of comfort and confidence.

Works of the top students from three Indonesian Fashion Universities were also displayed: LaSalle Surabaya College believes in staying ahead providing original collections in the world.

Universita Ciputra Surabaya is producing world class entrepreneurs for the industry. Binus Northumbria School aspires to become the best design school in the region and provides excellent facilities to its students.

The brands included Harry Halim (a celebrity favorite), AKU, Purana x Amero, War Erte, Carol Chen, Adisza Kahanasty, AM by Anggia, Hanyutan, Adraworld, and Elima. The fashion universities hand selected their top graduate collections to be showcased at Paris.
